Final Good Bye to the webOS

In 2007 when the iPhone was launched, Apple CEO, Steve Jobs predicted about the then iPhone OS to be ahead of the Mobile Operating systems during that time. Looking back in time, only two main mobile OS's existed that time. The Blackberry OS and the Symbian. When we look at it now, almost 4 years from 2007, the prediction looks clear and perfect. Symbian is dead. Blackberry is struggling and firing all cylinders to push its OS to be at par with the iOS. Their latest OS the BB OS 7 seems a bit more promising than its predecessors.

Strangely what happened was, there was no Android that time. Android was taken by Google in 2005 and it was developed mostly in the direction of the most popular OS during those days, i.e. the Blackberry OS. When iPhone was launched, Android was changed to look and feel similar to the iOS.

In Feb 2011, webOS was announced by HP. As it joined late to the party of the Mobile OS's it had all the freedom to tweak all the shortcomings of the iOS and Android and be the best. It succeeded to a certain level. But as the Hardware is the Body, the OS is the soul of any device. If they are not synchronized together, the output can be disastrous. Same happened to the WebOS touchpad, Pre and other supporting devices. The OS was good but the body soul equation didn't work out. HP had an open idea of licensing as well as developing the OS in house. But not any more.

HP recently declared that the webOS will only be developed and licensed but there wont be any devices produced by HP. This comes as a shock to a few and good news for a few. There is one competitor less, but HTC and Samsung might go aheah and take the licensing and develop devices based on WebOS.

Samsung is already working on its BADA OS, where it can save some licensing fee but still it will continue to develop devices on other platforms like Microsoft and Android. HTC is going with Android for the time being. Lets see. Future seems to be very competitive.

Apple to launch a new series of Mac by this year end!

Speculations are high. Expectations are high. Its Apple. They are planning for a new breed of Mac's. What will it look like, what could be the features built into it. No one knows, But yes, there are chances of the Newer Cinema display, thunderbolt port and a all touch design with adjustable stand for which Apple was recently granted Patent.
Fingers Crossed till then!
